Incredible sound experience: ready for high resolution audio

The 64-bit audio DSP and sophisticated signal processing with 96 kHz sampling rate and native 32-bit resolution, as well as the new Asahi Kasei separate AD and DA signal converters offer exceptional sound quality. Ideal for processing high resolution audio signals with an audio bandwidth greater than 40 kHz. In addition, the DSP.3 offers our unique DSP audio features such as "Augmented Bass Processing", "StageXpander" or the "RealCenter" function which opens up new possibilities for modifying your audio system.

ACO - 32-bit advanced platform

Logically the DSP.3 is now equipped with the new, extraordinary powerful 32-bit ACO platform (Advanced CoProcessor). This takes over all monitoring activities and provides a decisive increase in speed, particularly in data communication with our DSP PC-Tool software, but also when switching between different audio settings in just 300 msec. Moreover, the ACO allows 10 recordings of the audio settings instead of the usual two and an integrated input EQ, separate from the channel and our Input Signal Analyzer (ISA) for the analysis and compensation of the input signals. In this way it is possible to equalize any factory audio tuning and significantly simplifies the integration of different signal sources.

 

Extensive set of basic features

Obviously, the high level input with ADEP3 circuit (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection, 3rd Generation), the Auto Remote switch, an optical input and the HELIX Extension Card slot (HEC slot) for additional expansion cards like Bluetooth® Audio Streaming or high resolution. Audio streaming via USB is part of the basic feature set.

Needless to say, HELIX DSP.3 can be easily configured as usual thanks to the professional and particularly user-friendly D4 PC Tool Software V5.

Special features:

 

96 kHz sampling frequency

HELIX DSP.3 allows you to manage all the signals with the doubled sampling frequency of 96 kHz. Therefore, the audio bandwidth is no longer limited to the usual values like 22 kHz, but allows a frequency response extended to over 40 kHz. By doubling the sampling frequency, a significantly higher DSP power is required since the number of possible arithmetic operations is halved.

Only the implementation of the latest generation of DSP chips allows you to increase the sampling rate to 96 kHz and add new features at the same time.

 

ACO - 32-bit advanced co-processor

HELIX DSP.3 incorporates a powerful 32-bit latest generation CoProcessor for all monitoring and communication activities, both internally and externally. Unlike the previous 8-bit generation, this MCU achieves higher speeds than switching settings and communicating data with our DSP PC-Tool software.

A further significant advantage is the native integrated boot loader of the CoProcessor. Allows software updates of all DSP components to adjust the ADEP3 circuit controlled by a microcontroller, for example in case of future modifications / changes in the factory radio diagnostic system or if the device will be extended with additional interfaces.

Moreover, thanks to the new flash memory, the ACO offers 10 memory presets for audio settings instead of the two common ones.

 

Smart highlevel input ADEP.3

The modern factory-installed car radios incorporate sophisticated diagnostic possibilities for the connected speakers. In particular, the latest generation of car radios is equipped with additional monitoring functions so that error messages and the loss of specific characteristics (for example the fader function) are displayed very often if a signal processor is connected, but not with DSP.3.

The new ADEP.3 circuit (Advanced Diagnostics Error Protection, 3rd Generation) avoids all these problems without loading the OE radio speaker outputs in case of unnecessary high volumes.

 

Start-Stop functionality

The HELIX DSP.3 switched power supply ensures a constant internal power supply voltage even if the battery voltage drops to 6 Volts when the engine is started.

 

Energy saving mode

Energy saving mode is incorporated into the basic setting. It allows to significantly reduce the power consumption of the amplifiers connected to HELIX DSP.3 once there is no input signal for more than 60 seconds. Note that in many cars updated with "CAN" or any other internal bus structure it can happen that the radio remains "invisibly" turned on for a maximum of 45 minutes. even after closing and leaving the car! Once "Power Save Mode" is active, the remote output and then the connected amplifiers will be turned off. HELIX DSP.3 reactivates remote output within one second if a musical signal is applied. The switch-off time can be changed by 60 sec. or completely deactivate the "Energy saving mode" via the DSP PC-Tool software.

 

Automatic digital signal detection

The transition from the analog input to the digital input is performed automatically as soon as a signal is detected on the optical input. This function can be deactivated in the DSP PC-Tool software. Alternatively, an optional remote control can be used for manual switching between analogue and digital inputs.
