Odin Mk3 is a completely redesigned version of the very famous Odin kit, which uses the latest drive unit technologies of the Excel product line. This kit uses two W18E001 woofers and a single "MILLENNIUM" T25CF002 tweeter mounted in an D Appolito configuration.

The cabinet has a bass reflex design with the nozzle in the back. This directs any venting noise away from the listener and allows a minimum deflector area in the front. The PVC access tube is supported by an internal deflector that helps maintain an equal air flow on each end of the tube and also acts as an additional reinforcement of the cabinet. The port tuning frequency is 31Hz.

The crossover network is conventional except for a parallel circuit that suppresses the peak response due to the magnesium cone. The crossover frequency is 2.5 kHz. The Odin Mk3 was designed by Dr. Joseph D Appolito and was developed as an accompanying kit for the Thor transmission system.

It offers the following comments regarding the Odin MK3 performance:

"The ventilated box is tuned about 15% less than the ubiquitous QB3 alignment to produce better damped bass response. Several hundred hours of lab and listening tests have gone into this system. You can t literally tell where from the woofers finish and the tweeter starts ".

Tips for building Thor:

Stuffing: for Thor damping, we recommend using a Dacron fiber mat weighing 360 g / sq. meter (1.2 oz / sq. Ft)
400 g (14 oz) of the damping material must be placed in the front channel; 250 g (9 ounces) in the back.
