Is it possible to make the best car audio amplifier in the world even better? This was really a challenge for our engineers when they started developing the MX4 PRO. When designing a BRAX product it is essential to reconsider and optimize every single detail again and again, even if at first sight it seems less significant. From our understanding this is the one and only approach on how to move the limits - acoustically and technically - further and further. Finally we are absolutely convinced that the MX4 PRO once again redefines the benchmark for amplifiers.

This masterpiece is the perfect symbiosis between state-of-the-art components and ingenious technological improvements without neglecting the legacy and tradition of the brand for which BRAX is famous. As the sole manufacturer, we continue to take the manual selection of power transistors for the production of each BRAX amplifier for granted - and it is no secret that the tools and instruments necessary for this selection procedure are internal developments. This unique process guarantees not only the lowest possible serial tolerances, but also unmatched power and measurement data.

A significant percentage for the overall performance is based on the great effort that is made to supply all the modules inside our amplifiers. Separate and stabilized supply voltages for each two channels guarantee perfect conditions for each stage of the amplifier. The ESR very low voltage electrolytic capacitors (specially made for Audiotec Fischer) are meanwhile legendary as our encapsulated toroidal power transformers that produce more than 1,800 watts of output power just like that. A completely revised PCB design with four massive copper layers ensures maximum current flow - so it no wonder that the MX4 PRO with its simple 4 x 300 RMS in 4/2/1 Ohm offers more power to the speaker terminals that never .

But that not all: MX4 PRO is also a paradigm for bridging the gap between traditional amplifier technology and the digital age. We have made an unparalleled effort only to control the volume of digital inputs. As a novelty in the car audio segment, the volume adjustment in combination with the BRAX DSP takes place just before the output stages that drive the speakers, needless to say that this happens in the analog domain without sacrificing any signal resolution. BRAX DSP incorporates the volume information into the digital SPDIF data stream which is then decoded within the MX4 PRO.

This aspect alone demonstrates the commitment of our engineers to pure perfection - and I assure you that this meticulousness is destined to continue throughout the production process. Each individual amplifier is customized on request and its serial number is recorded in our database. So every BRAX MX4 PRO is a unique and precious product that rightly deserves the title of "high-end made in Germany".

DSP Features

Volume control DiSAC (Digital Signal Analog Controlled) in combination with BRAX DSP

In a car audio system there are generally two possibilities to control the playback volume.

a) The volume will be adjusted in the signal source (eg car radio / main unit): This is the predominant method, but has a disadvantage as soon as there is an additional digital signal processor in the audio path. The full resolution of the DSP can only be exploited when the source volume is set to the full-scale output. Otherwise the audio bits are "lost" so that at very low volume levels the sound lacks precision. But this loss can also occur if no DSP is in the signal path between the main unit and the amplifier because most radios today incorporate a digital volume control that also has a negative effect on low-level signal resolution. of volume.

b) The volume will be adjusted in the digital signal processor (DSP): In this case the signal source delivers a full-scale signal so that a DSP in the signal path can operate in the best possible conditions without truncating any bits, for example during the AD conversion process. A remote control connected to the DSP will then be responsible for adjusting the volume within the signal processor in the digital domain, but this also has a slight impact on sound quality.

The perfect solution:
MX4 PRO in combination with BRAX DSP follows a different approach, but the most consistent and extended in order to avoid any degradation of sound quality. The exclusive and proprietary "DiSAC" technology of Audiotec Fischers works perfectly if the audio source does not incorporate any volume adjustment or the source always provides a high signal level. In this case the audio processing inside the BRAX DSP is performed without reducing the audio resolution at any time. To adjust the playback volume, you can choose the URC.3 remote control or the DIRECTOR remote control of the display. The specialty is that the information on the volume of the remote control will be encoded within the BRAX DSP and incorporated into the digital audio data stream of the SPDIF outputs and then transferred to the MX4 PRO. MX4 PRO is able to extract and decode volume information from the digital data stream, using this to adjust lossless analog volume controllers (PGA) after DA converters. This simply means that the volume control occurs in the signal path where it has no negative impact on sound quality, actually just before the output stages that drive the speakers. This type of volume control is truly unique in the car segment and demonstrates once again that Audiotec Fischer has spared no effort to redefine the pinnacle of sound quality again.
